Spirit, Ch Achates D'Keeper Of The Spirit AND Tucker, Ch Kennedy's Tuckered By The Storm proudly present their new litter of 4 babies that were born on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 4:00 PM. Spirit and the babies are doing very well. She is a great Mother and the babies are nursing like old pros. Our Bitch and the largest dog are both very Brindle. The other 2 boys both look like they are Black & White. We had a second bitch born that unfortunately had a severe cleft palate and had to be put down.

This photo was taken the day before the babies were born and Spirit looks very ready to have them. She had gained 2.2 lbs from her pre-pregnant weight of 14 lbs.

This is my friend Mel, who is Doc's Surgical Assistant. She always makes sure she is on duty the day we have a c-section scheduled. Mel is part of a wonderful team of people that takes great care of my girls. A BIG Thank you to Dr. Dan Thronborrow, who owns The Animal Hospital of Howard and for doing such a wonderful job delivering our newest babies!
Here we are just minutes old. The 2 center babies are the 2 Black and White boys. The left one weighs 6.75 oz and the little guy weighs 5.1 oz. Our Brindle girl is in the lower right position and is 8.25 oz as is the Brindle boy is in the upper left position.

Here we are at home with Mom getting our first taste of Milk.

Going across the top row we have our largest Brindle male in the top left corner stretched over Mom's leg. Next to him we have our only girl who is also Brindle. Top right corner is our middle size male. The baby on top of Spirit's belly is our little guy who does not have any problems getting where he wants to go.
This is our smallest male who is doing quite well. He is gaining weight steadily.

I'll update photos on a regular basis so please check back and watch how fast the babies grow!

I removed the foam pad today and the babies are now on Veterinary grade fleece over top of a Pooch Pad. The pooch pad is a washable/reuseable pad that absorbs the urine that goes directly through the fleece. The babies stay dry and clean at all times. This is changed daily. I also added my starter litter box and will place the babies on it so they get used to the texture and they will soon start climbing in there on their own to go potty.
